I am in the midst of my first domain sale. A prospective buyer from United States is in talks with me for my domain name, "SysZone.com"

The guy's offered me $1000. Though I am negotiating the price. I will be like, selling it for $5000

The buyer wants to do the transaction through Escrow.com

This would be my first domain sale. And, I have not used Escrow.com in anyways whatsoever.

What do u guys feel about this. If the buyer wants the tranaction to happen through Escrow.com....... do you feel the buyer's really interested........ I mean.......... is the guy foolin around.

Well if he is paying then wait for his payments and then only consider it as a final deal.

Till then nothing can be said.

If he is offering $1,000 then it may not be realistic to try and bring him to $5,000, but you may be a better salesperson that I am. :-)

I think escrow.com is respected, but I do not know much about them. If he suggested using them, then I would take that as a good sign. Using an escrow service means no one should be taken advantage of. Since he suggested to use an escrow service, you can ask him if he will pay the fees, and if he won't, then you should ask him to split the fees. You should not have to pay all of them, but it's up to you.

I would find out as much as you can about the buyer, name, address, web site, etc. The more you can find out the more research you can do to see if he seems to be what he says he is.

Try searching for any phone or fax numbers in Google and see what you find. Check the WHOIS records for his domains. Enter in the first part of his email address ( the "name" in name@domain.com) and see what comes up. And try searching for his name using quotes ("Bob Smith"). You can often find many things this way.

The guy has increased his offer to $3000 and will also pay for the Escrow.com fees + International Wire trasfer fees.

Whois shows private registration - Domains by proxy.

Did a Detailed Header review of email that I received from him. I could trace the IP Address to Arozina, USA - Scottsdale....... or some place like that.

I have still kinda stuck with $5000. I am expecting an email tomorrow morning. If the offer touches $5000 ( Escrow and Wire Trfe fees paid by the buyer ), I will accept the deal.

Is $5000 worth. Or, should I increase the expected amount.

Perhaps others will offer their opinion. If I was offered $3,000 for that domain I would have sold it and paid half the fees...! Good Luck with your sale!!! :-)

I managed to squeeze the guy to increase from $3000 to $4000. I thought, I might loose a nice deal if I stick onto the $5000 mark.

The guy's ready to pay for the Escrow.com's charges and International Wire Transfer charges.

I got an email confirmation from him this morning. And, an email from Escrow.com about the details of his offer. The guy has initiated a transaction by paying me $4075 ( that squares off the Escrow charges and International Wire Transfer charges)

He has kept 5 days as the review period for the transaction. But, what I studied about Escrow.com is that they are the best way to sell a domain name.
